Only thing I've ever soldered was a mouse switch and it was not pretty. Picked up a breakout usb c, mdfly MOL-DB0070, from amazon. Hard to see the traces with my eyes so how does this look?

If it works, it's brilliant, if it doesn't....

There are USB-C connectors that do not have 12 pins, but have 8 - in this case the CC pins are 6 pins from left to right

Aren't they 3rd? Usually these pins are connected to resistors to encode PD protocol establish communication (R1..R3 in your case).

Resistor R2 is not originally on the connector. Should the other two, R1 and R3, stay there?

They're should be removed, no pulls (up/down) are allowed at D+ and D-.

After some use I can say everything is fine ! No problems at all !
Just a little tune up, like removing the clock(not working very well) and put something new there on the screen or like old AF preheat or stealth settings.
I will try some charging modification and battery profile to extend battery life. Not using NFE Tools so much.
Thanks for your hard work !

Just got my new Grus today and really happy to find this thread. Not super confident in my ability to solder the included cable, looks different than the ones pictured.

Purchased a breakout board from Amazon and was wondering if you would be able to assist with what should be connected to where as again it's different than all the pictures
It has an a and b side.
Will this work or do I need to order something else.

So it looks like this breakout board works fine, cc2 is substituted for vconn.

Now comes the hard part of putting it back together.

    Cheers

Tell me, please, a re-soldered cable, without a mod, should be reflected in the device manager? I have an empty cable showing "undefined device". Sorry, I'm writing through a translator.

    Hello!
No. Check resistance between D+, D-, GND and VBUS pins with multimeter, all measurements should be "open". If not, check short circuits and remove all pull resistors, if any.

    Hello!
Thank you for testing and response, really appreciate you manual and feedback :)
Just my two cents' worth: really enjoyed the battery life. One of the fears was related to the battery cap, but Lost Vape did his job very well, PCB design and build quality are great. I'm not disappointed at all, and the time spent to rework is worth.
Again, thanks to all and good luck :)

Hello. I soldered the cable, turned it on without a mod in the PC, and here's what the device manager shows. Is this how it should be? Screenshot_2021-01-25-18-54-37-855_com.miui.gallery.jpg

My cable doesn't show up when plugged in with no mod. Based on that picture it looks like you have a decent blob of solder touching the pin next to the one that was soldered. Also in the thread maelstrom said to remove all resistors from the cable, did you do this?

When plugging in upside-down to the mod I was getting a unknown device error but it was all user mistake. Had to flip my usb cable 180°

Thanks. I removed the resistors. I'll buy a new cable tomorrow and try again.

I will write in a few days and subtitles. They will be in Bulgarian, but will be able to be translated automatically from YouTube. And for the operation of the new software there will be a special review of the device and what is in the computer software. It is a pleasure for me to give my share for this wonderful firmware!
