Is support for the upcoming Lost Vape Grus (Quest chipset) a possibility? Seems like a solid device and there aren't a lot of decent, single 21700 mods on the market at the moment—let alone with AF/RP support. I can send the mod when it's released or funds to support if needed. Pinned: https://nfeteam.org/forum/threads/lost-vape-quest-chipset-grus-ursa.4905/page-9#post-13124
Hello! Pre-ordered this mod a few days ago Also I like it so I pinning my hopes that this baby will be software upgradable and will run RedPanda
Righteous! This is so promising to hear! I've pre-ordered the mod as well. Please feel free to let me know if you need my support in any way. Thanks for all you do maelstrom2001 and NFE Team, truly!
Glad to hear that! Started vaping again and got myself a Lost Vape Grus a few days ago at my local vape shop! I used to be a huge fan of the Arctic fox and red panda firmwares! Would love to beta test! And thanks for your work! Hit me up if you need any help!
Hello! Great news, thank you! This is exactly the MCU that I really expected. https://nfeteam.org/forum/threads/lost-vape-grus-quest-chipset.4905/ So, waiting for the box to arrive ^_^
First thank you for your hard work and sorry for my bad english! I check wiki for the grus and he has only 32 kb flash isnt small for your magic ? Thanks in advance! Edit: now I found it 64kb is ok for AF or RP?
Hello! 64K is not enough. But MCU marked STM32F072C8T in fact may have 128K EEPROM like STM32F072CBT, and this is OK. Such -C8T I saw in Vaporesso mods (Swag & Armour Pro) and Hotcig RSQ. Despite marking on its packages they have 128K EEPROM and 112..116K (bootloader may occupy 12..16K) space for the firmware itself, this is enough for AF/RP.
Thank you let's continue here, in dedicated thread. Yep, please try to connect mod to PC and see how it will be detected, in Device Manager. P. S. it may be possible also to find recovery or flash mode, for example, connecting mod without battery and holding some button, etc.
OK. Just tested without battery not connected. All buttons + combination of buttons not detected. 2 cable tested no luck. Every plug just started the device and show charging without battery ? No movment on device menager...... Windows 7 and Windows 10 tested. Interesting is that says no passtrhou when I push the fire button. It will need disasembly to flash that MOD. Any thing else that I can try ?
Thank you! This is not the most difficult. BOOT pin is accessible and easy to use to put MCU in DFU Mode. But the biggest nuisance might be that dedicated USB pins are not connected to USB port. This is really critical. I see one track to USB D- pin, USB D+ might be placed under MCU, but...In the worst case, they may not be used for USB at all, and then it will actually be very difficult.
Hope this won't be a Lost Cause. I'm also very interested in this device, and not afraid to solder it all around if needed
Hello, I am the author of the video for the disassembly of GRUS, also known as Smoking Maniac. I can confirm that the pins from the MCU go to the USB connector. I marked them in the photos. I don't know if that will help, but I hope so. with a multimeter I measure about 33 ohms between the MCU and the USB-C connector ...
Unfortunately, everything from my reviews is handed out at a giveaway and this device will go to the colleague who won it tomorrow. If you seriously think that there is a chance to change the firmware, I can provide such a GRUS immediately for the needs of society.
@copyman Hello! Thank you for very useful reviews, really appreciate as electronics engineer and coder. USB data series resistors exactly are 33 Ohms usually. Perfect, thank you! To be honest, I wanted to ask you about this in the comments to your review. So, if the stock STM DFU is not locked via MCU configuration, we have a very good chance to flash Grus without soldering and ST-Link. Yep, the intentions to run AF/RP port (similar to Armour Pro and R80) on the Grus are the most serious. Thank you for the offer, hope my 2 boxes will arrive in a couple of weeks. Again, thank you for visiting us, for your hard work and valuable info
Great news, I'm glad I helped as much as I could. I am writing here for the first time, but I have been reading your forum for a long time. My congratulations for the amazing work you are doing, thank you very much for your hard work. Thanks again!
