    Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California did the study with special lab equipment.

    They still did it for a given setup, where voltage is only one variable, the others like coil material and resistance, composition of the e-liquid, etc are not shown with the chart, so therefore the chart in its own is misleading.

    With e-liquid for straight VG (419 deg F) is when toxins are released, and for VG/PG mix (480 deg F) there are other examples for safe temps for different coil materials but thats a whole other discussion.
